Sairam Kirana

Sairam Kirana is right on the 6-32-41 Aswaraopeta Highway in Penuballi. Because we are on the highway, we see a lot of different people. Some are just passing through on their way to other towns, and others are locals who live right here in Penuballi. The shop stays quite dusty because of all the trucks and buses that roar past outside. We spend a lot of time wiping down the jars and the counter. We sell basic groceries and snacks to people who are in a hurry. It is a simple life, standing behind the counter and watching the traffic go by. We don't have a lot of space, so we stack the rice bags and oil tins wherever they fit. In the evenings, it gets a bit cooler and the locals come by to sit and talk for a bit. We keep the fridge stocked with cold drinks, which are very popular during the summer months when the highway heat is almost too much to bear. We have been at this location for years, and we know the rhythms of the road. Some days are very slow, and other days we can barely keep up with the people stopping their cars to buy water or cigarettes. It is just a regular kirana store trying to make ends meet in a busy world.
