Singh Hardware is right across from the Maheshwary Petrol Pump on Najibabad Road. Up here in Pauri Garhwal District, the weather can be a bit tricky, especially when the mist rolls in over the hills. We open up early because that’s when the workers are out looking for tools and parts before they head to their jobs. The shop isn't very big, and we’ve got shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling filled with all sorts of bits and pieces. Sometimes it takes a minute to find the exact screw or pipe someone is looking for, but we usually get there. The Najibabad Road stays busy with travelers and locals, and having the petrol pump right there means there’s always someone stopping nearby. It’s a practical kind of place. We don't have air conditioning or fancy displays. Just metal, wood, and the smell of oil and paint. We talk to everyone who comes through the door, usually about the weather or how the local roads are holding up. Being in the district, we see people from all the surrounding villages who need hardware supplies they can't get closer to home. It’s been a steady way of life for us. We don't worry about being the biggest shop, just about having the things people actually need. It’s hard work, especially in the winter, but it’s a good life in the hills.
