Vikas Kirana Store

You can find us right across from the Shiv Mandir near the Mandi gate in Kota. Being on Dhrodhan Disan Road near the New Grain Mandi means there is always a lot of movement around. Tractors and trucks are passing by all day long. We started this kirana store to serve the people who work in the mandi and those living in the nearby colonies. It's a busy spot, especially in the mornings. We sell things like rice, wheat, oils, and all the basics you'd expect. The shop isn't very large, and sometimes we have to stack the crates of cold drinks out on the pavement when a new shipment arrives. My brother and I take turns managing the shop. We don’t have a computer system or anything like that; everything is written down in a notebook. It works for us. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to use a torch to find things at the back of the store, but customers are patient. They usually stop by to grab a few things on their way to the temple or after finishing their work at the mandi. It’s a noisy area, but we’ve gotten used to the sounds of the bells and the engines. We just focus on keeping the shelves full so nobody has to go elsewhere for their daily staples. It’s just a local shop for local people.
