Vijay Vergiya Provision Store

Our little shop is over in the Teachers Colony area, right by Sirkanya House in Kota. It is a quiet enough spot most of the time, though mornings get a bit rushed when people are headed out for work or school. We have been stocking the shelves here with things people need for their kitchens every day. You know how it is, someone always runs out of salt or tea right when they are about to use it. We keep the bins full of pulses and rice. It takes a lot of time to weigh everything out and keep the bags organized. My hands are usually dusty from moving sacks of flour around. The shelves are a bit crowded because we try to fit everything in this space. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late and we have to stack boxes in the corner until we can find a place for them. It is just me and one other person helping out. We see the same faces every week, mostly the families who live nearby. If the power goes out, it gets a bit dark in the back, but we know where everything is kept. We don't have any big signs, just the shop door open to the street. It is a simple way to spend the day, just talking to neighbors and making sure we have the basics on hand. Sometimes we sit outside on a crate when it is slow.
