V S & Associates

V S & Associates is on the fifth floor of the Vijayvergeeya Complex in Gumanpura. It is a busy building with a lot of different offices, so the elevators are always full or slow. We usually just end up taking the stairs if we aren't carrying too many heavy files. Our office is number five. Inside, there are desks piled high with papers and folders. It looks a bit messy to an outsider, but we know where everything is. We spend most of the morning answering the phone and writing things down in ledgers. Gumanpura is a lively part of town, so there is always noise from the street coming through the windows. We have a small kettle for making tea, which we do several times a day. It helps us stay focused when the work gets a bit repetitive. We are a small group of people working here, mostly just doing what needs to be done for the day's tasks. There is no fancy decor or leather chairs. It is just a workspace. We talk to the other people in the complex during lunch breaks near the entrance. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the complex a bit damp, but we just keep working through it. It’s a plain, honest way to earn a living, and we’ve been at this address for quite a few years now. The ceiling fan is always humming in the background.
