Surendra Kirana Store

Our store is located right near the Mahaveer Milk Dairy in the Balakund area of Kota. Because we are so close to the dairy we get a lot of people who come to buy milk and then stop at our place for bread or eggs or tea leaves. It is a good spot but it gets very muddy during the rainy season because the road isn't very good around here. We are mostly a kirana store so we have the usual household things like soap and lentils and big packs of biscuits. A lot of students live in this part of Kota so they come in late at night looking for snacks or pens or things for their rooms. The shop is quite simple with just some metal racks and a wooden counter where I sit most of the day. We don't really have a lot of help so sometimes the customers have to wait a bit if I am busy in the back moving boxes. It is a lot of lifting and carrying but I don't mind it too much. We try to keep the things that people ask for most often right at the front so it is easy to reach. Balakund is a bit away from the main city center so it feels a little more relaxed here even though there is always someone coming in for a small bit of ginger or a pack of matches. It is just a regular local shop for the regular people living nearby.
