Suraj Stone

At Suraj Stone, the work is always a bit heavy and very dusty. Our yard is located at G-328 in the IPIA. Moving large slabs of stone is what we do every single day. You will always hear the sound of water saws cutting through the blocks if you walk past our gate. It is a wet and messy job, and my clothes are usually covered in stone dust by noon. We have all kinds of stone piles sitting out in the yard. We do not bother with a fancy indoor showroom because the stone looks much better under the natural sunlight anyway. I spend most of my time walking around the pallets and checking the quality of the pieces. People come by looking for materials for their floors or maybe a new patio. We just walk them through the rows and show them what we have in stock right now. There is no pressure to buy anything. If they find something they like, we figure out a way to get it loaded onto a truck. The guys who work the loaders are the ones who do the hardest lifting in the heat. It is a tough way to make a living but it feels good to see a finished piece of stone ready to be used. G-328 is a busy spot and we just keep our heads down and do the work.
