Sunny Frame & Gift

Our shop, Sunny Frame & Gift, sits right across from the Rajkiya Madhyamik School on Chhawani Road. It’s a good spot because we see the students heading to class every morning and then walking back home in the afternoon. Most of our day is spent working with wood and glass, trying to get the frames just right for someone's old family photo or a new diploma. It's a bit of a messy job with the sawdust and the glass cutters, but there's a certain satisfaction when a frame finally comes together. We also keep a variety of gift items on the shelves for people who are just passing through. Chhawani Road can get pretty dusty with all the traffic, so we are constantly cleaning the glass on the frames to keep them looking clear. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be careful where we step when there are a few customers inside at once. We don't use any fancy machines, just the tools we have used for years. It's a steady rhythm of measuring, cutting, and joining. Sometimes people bring in things that are falling apart and we do what we can to fix them up. It’s a quiet kind of work compared to the noise of the school across the street. We just keep things moving along and hope the frames we make last a long time in people's homes once they leave here.
