Shyam Saree is situated right by 56 Kota Junction, so we always hear the trains coming and going. It’s a busy area with a lot of noise and people always in a rush to catch their next ride. The shop itself is quite modest. We don't have a lot of space, so we have to be smart about how we pile up the sarees. Sometimes the dust from the station gets everywhere, and we have to spend the first hour of every morning just cleaning the glass and the counters. I’ve lived in this area my whole life, so I know most of the people who walk past our door. It’s a family-run thing, and we don't really have any grand plans. We just want to make sure we have enough variety for the local women who stop by. We often get travelers who have a bit of time between trains and want to take something back home. It’s a lot of opening boxes and showing different patterns until the customer finds something they like. The floor is concrete, and we keep a few stools for people to sit on while they look. We don't use any slick sales tactics. We just show what we have, tell them the price, and that’s that. It can be a long day, especially when the weather is humid, but being near the Junction means there’s always something interesting to see out the window.
