If you go down Punjabi Gali in Ramganj Mandi, you will find us at number 111. It is a narrow street and things get pretty hectic when the stone blocks are being moved about. Ramganj Mandi is a busy place for stone, and we have been part of it for a while now. We deal with marble and different types of stone that come from the nearby quarries. The workshop is always noisy with the sound of cutting and polishing machines. There is white dust everywhere, no matter how much we try to sweep it up. It gets on your clothes and your hair by the end of the shift. We usually have a lot of slabs leaning against the walls, so you have to be careful where you walk around the yard. My uncle started this place, and now we just keep it going as best as we can. We do not have a website or anything like that. People just come to the gali and look for the marble pieces they like for their floors or walls. We spend a lot of time talking to the workers and making sure the cuts are roughly what the customer asked for. It is hard work, especially in the heat, but there is a certain satisfaction in seeing a raw block turn into a finished piece. We just take it one day at a time here in the mandi.
