Shree Baksh Badrilal Vijay

Shree Baksh Badrilal Vijay is our family business over in Bhimganj Mandi, not too far from Kota Junction. We have been operating out of this same building for a very long time. The walls are thick and the ceiling is high, which helps when the summer gets really hot. We deal with trading and various goods that come through the mandi. It is a very traditional way of working. We don't use much technology here, just the old ledgers and our memory. The area is always full of trucks and carts moving things around, so it can get pretty dusty by the afternoon. We know almost everyone in the neighborhood by their first name. People come in to sit and talk even if they don't have any business to do that day. We drink a lot of tea and watch the street. It’s a slow pace of life compared to the new parts of the city. We don't have any big signs or slogans. The name on the front is enough for people to know who we are. We just handle the stocks and make sure the accounts are right at the end of the month. It’s what our family has done for years, and we don't see any reason to change it now. We just show up every morning and open the big wooden doors to start the day.
