Shiv Naran Kirana Store

Shiv Naran Kirana Store is located right by Masjid Circle in the Khatal Khadi area of Ramganj Mandi. It is a busy little corner of the world. The shop is mostly filled with big containers of grain and the smell of different spices that we keep in the back. The counter is wooden and a bit worn down from years of sliding bags across it. We don't really do much besides keep the shelves stocked and help people find what they need for dinner. In the mornings, the circle outside is loud with people going to work, and we usually have the shutters up before the sun gets too high. We have a small television in the corner that we keep on for the news, though nobody really watches it much. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but for now, they are just the same off-white they have always been. We have all the normal things like matches, cigarettes, and lentils. When the rain comes, we have to move the bags away from the door so they don't get damp. It is just a routine, day in and day out, making sure there is enough sugar and salt for everyone who walks in. We know most of the faces that come through the door because they live just a few streets away. It is just how it is here, and we keep things going as best as we can every day.
