Sharwan Watch Company

Down on Chhawani Road, Sharwan Watch Company is just a regular shop for people who care about their timepieces. We aren't trying to be a luxury boutique. It’s a place where you can get a battery changed or a leather strap replaced without a lot of talking. I usually have the radio playing in the background while I work. It helps when you’re looking at things through a loupe all day. The shop is a bit small, and we have boxes of spare parts tucked under the tables. Sometimes it's hard to find exactly what I'm looking for, but I usually get there in the end. Chhawani Road is a good place to be. There’s always something happening outside. We get all kinds of customers, from students who have a cheap digital watch to older men with heavy metal ones. I like the variety. Every watch has its own problems. Some just need a bit of cleaning because they’ve been sitting in a drawer. Others have been dropped or got wet. We see it all. It’s not a clean job, you get oil under your fingernails and your back starts to ache after a few hours. But seeing a watch start ticking again after it’s been dead for years is a good feeling. We just stay here and do the work that needs doing. There is no need for anything more complicated than that in a place like this.
