Shankar Kirana & General Store

If you walk down Nayapura Khai Road, you will find Shankar Kirana & General Store. It is a place that has a bit of everything you might need for the house. We have the usual stuff like lentils and rice, but also things like notebooks, pens, and basic batteries. The shelves are wooden and have been there since we first opened. They are getting a bit worn out now. I keep the shop open seven days a week because people always forget something on Sundays. The street outside is narrow and can get quite crowded with rickshaws and bikes. Sometimes it is hard to hear what people are asking for over the noise. We do not have a big neon sign, just the name painted on the board above the entrance. I usually spend my time restocking the smaller items like matchboxes and candy jars that sit right on the counter. It is a family-run thing, so you might see my nephew helping out during his school holidays. We do not have a website or anything like that. If people want to know what we have, they just have to step inside and ask. It is an old-fashioned way of doing things but it works for us. We try to keep enough stock so that nobody leaves empty-handed. Life on Nayapura Khai Road is fast, but inside the shop, we try to take things one customer at a time. I usually eat my lunch right here at the desk.
