Saain Kirana Store

Saain Kirana Store is located in Suket, right along the Ramganj Mandi Jhalawar Road. Being on a main road like this means we get a mix of local villagers and people who are just driving through. Our shop isn't very large, so we have to stack things pretty high to make sure we have what people need. You will find bags of lentils sitting next to boxes of soap and jars of sweets on the front counter. The ceiling fan hums all day long, trying to move the warm air around. We open up early and usually stay open until the sun has been down for a while. There is a certain rhythm to life here in Suket, and we are right in the middle of it. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to work by candlelight for a bit, but we don't mind much. We know most of the people who walk in by their first names, and we often hear the local news before anyone else does. It is a simple life of counting change and restocking shelves, but it suits us. We don't try to be anything other than a basic neighborhood shop where you can get your groceries and maybe have a quick chat about the weather or the road conditions.
