Ramesh Kirana And General Store is located at the S S F Choraha in Kanchwa, Kota. We are a typical neighborhood shop where you can find the basic things you need for your kitchen and home. The shelves are packed with bags of flour, lentils, soaps, and biscuits. It stays quite busy during the evenings when people are coming home from work and realize they forgot to buy sugar or oil. We try to keep everything stocked, but sometimes the delivery truck is late and we run out of certain brands. My family helps me run the place. We know most of our customers by name and we know what they usually buy. The counter is usually crowded with jars of candies for the kids who come in after school. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at once. We don't have a fancy billing system; we just write things down or use a simple calculator. The floor needs a sweep pretty often because of the dust from the crossroads outside. We have a small bench outside where older men sometimes sit and talk for a bit.
