Rama Kirana & General Store

Rama Kirana & General Store is over on Udyog Marg in the Indra Gandhi Nagar area, close to the DCM gate. It’s a bit of a dusty spot because of all the trucks moving in and out of the industrial area nearby. We sell mostly daily essentials like flour, pulses, and household cleaning supplies. The shop is just a basic building with a wide front opening. We spend a lot of our time moving heavy sacks of grain and stacking boxes of soap and tea. Since we are on Udyog Marg, we get a mix of local residents and people who work in the nearby factories coming in. It can get pretty hectic in the evenings when everyone is heading home and remembers they need something for dinner. We don't have any fancy signage or bright posters. The walls are just painted a simple color and the shelves are made of plain wood. We’ve had to deal with the heat quite a bit since the sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon. We just keep a jug of water and a small fan to stay cool. It’s not a complicated business at all. We just buy the stock, put it on the shelves, and sell it to whoever walks in. We know most of the people around Indra Gandhi Nagar by now. It’s a practical shop for a busy part of town and we just try to keep the staples in stock every day.
