Raju Kirana Stores

You can find us over at 3-B-34 in the Talwandi area. It’s a quiet residential part of town, which makes the shop a handy spot for the people living nearby. We carry the usual things you’d expect from a neighborhood kirana store. There are jars of candies on the counter and stacks of household supplies in the back. I usually spend my time restocking the shelves or checking what we need to order for next week. It’s a small space, so we have to be smart about how we pile things up. The kids from the nearby houses often come in for snacks after school. We’ve watched many of them grow up over the years. It’s funny how time passes when you’re staying in one place. The floor is tile and we sweep it out every morning before opening the shutters. We aren't a big supermarket, just a local shop where you can grab what you need quickly. Sometimes we run out of things if the truck is late, but we usually have the basics covered. We don't use any computers here, just a simple ledger and a calculator for the bills. It’s the way we’ve always operated and it seems to suit everyone just fine. The front of the shop has a small shade so people can stand out of the sun for a minute while they wait for their change.
