Rajasthan Medical & General Store

Kota is known for being a place of study and heat, and our shop sits right on DCM Road in Indira Gandhi Nagar. At Rajasthan Medical & General Store, we handle a bit of everything because students and families both live around here. One minute I am selling a packet of paracetamol and the next it is a notebook or a bottle of hair oil. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoons, so we keep the blue curtains half-drawn to stay cool. It is a long room with shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling. I use a long reach-tool to get the items from the top because I am not that tall. There is always a lot of noise from the bikes and trucks on the main road outside. Sometimes the dust gets in despite our best efforts, making everything feel a bit gritty. We try to keep a good stock of the things students need, like pens and cough drops, especially during exam seasons when they all get stressed. Dealing with the wholesalers takes up a lot of my time, arguing over prices and delivery dates. It’s just a normal, busy life in Rajasthan, trying to keep the shelves full and the customers served before the day ends. We do not have anything fancy, just a practical shop that sells what people in Kota are looking for.
