Rahul Confectionery

You can find Rahul Confectionery in Shivaji Market, right in the Agrsen Bazar area. This part of the city is always crowded and there is so much noise from the shoppers and the rickshaws. We have a lot of glass jars filled with different kinds of sweets and biscuits. There are also cakes and some savory snacks kept in the display case. It’s a confectionery, so we try to have things that children and people with a sweet tooth will like. The floor is often a bit sticky because of all the sugar and syrups we handle. We don't have much room to move around behind the counter, so it’s a bit of a tight squeeze. My brother and I take turns sitting here. We have a small fridge for the chocolates so they don't melt in the summer heat. The market is very old, and our shop has been here for a few years now. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we are always too busy to get it done. People come here to buy things for festivals or just a small treat after they finish their grocery shopping in the main bazaar. We don't do any delivery or anything like that. You just have to come to Shivaji Market and look for our spot. It’s a busy life but we enjoy seeing the same faces every day. The morning starts with cleaning the jars and ends with locking the heavy metal shutters.
