Raghu Kirana & Provison Store is right on the Nayapura Kishorepura Main Road. If you live nearby, you probably walk past us every day on your way to work. We keep the basics—daal, rice, soap, and all those things you need for the kitchen. The shop is small and the wooden shelves go all the way to the ceiling, so we often have to use a stool to reach the top items. It’s a busy road, so there’s always a bit of noise and dust from the bikes passing by. We open early in the morning because that’s when people want their milk and bread. It’s just a neighborhood grocery store, nothing more. We know most of the people who come in by their names and we usually know what they are going to buy before they even ask. Sometimes we run out of something because the delivery guy didn't show up on time, but that's just part of running a shop like this. We don't have fancy shopping carts or bright lights, you just tell us what you need and we bag it up for you quickly. It gets pretty crowded in the evenings when everyone is getting things for their dinner. We try to keep the prices fair so our neighbors keep coming back week after week. It’s been our life for a long time, sitting behind the counter and watching the neighborhood change around us. It's honest work and it keeps us busy from the time we open until the shutters go down.
