Punj Lloyd Ltd has a presence out here in V.P.O-Mehiyava in the Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh. It is a rural setting, right in the heart of the village area. The office is basically a few rooms that we have set up to manage our local tasks. You won't find any skyscrapers around here, just fields and small houses. The dust can get everywhere during the dry season, so we are always dusting off the computers. It is a very grounded place to work. We are part of the local fabric here, and most of the people working in the office are from the surrounding villages. We don't follow a strict corporate dress code or anything like that. We just wear what is comfortable for the weather. The power comes and goes, so we have a generator out back that makes a lot of noise. We focus on the work at hand without much complaining. It is a long way from the big cities, but we like the peace. There is a sense of community here that you don't get elsewhere. We know the postman and the local shop owners quite well. It is just a straightforward, hardworking environment where we try to stay on top of our responsibilities without making a big deal out of it. We just take each day as it comes.
