Pandit Surendra Sharma

Rampura Bazar is a lively place to be, and that is where I have my setup. I’m Pandit Surendra Sharma and I have been here long enough to know most of the shopkeepers and the families who come here to buy their daily goods. Being in the bazar means there is always something going on outside my door. It can be quite loud with the vendors calling out and the bikes zooming past, but it feels like home to me. I don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning or anything like that, just a simple space where I can sit and talk with people who need some help with their rituals. A lot of folks stop by while they are doing their shopping just to check a date or ask about a specific ceremony they have coming up. I try to stay organized but sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when three people show up at once. I just take them one by one and do my best to help out. Rampura Bazar is the kind of place where everyone knows your business anyway, so I don’t need to tell people who I am. They just see me and know I’m the one to talk to for their family traditions. I’ve lived here a long time and I plan to stay right here in the bazar for as long as I can. It is just the way things are.
