Living and working around Anu Kiran Colony is a bit different than the usual office life. We are over at T-Iii, 1-D, which is just one of the blocks here. The colony was built specifically for people associated with Npcil, so everyone you see at the grocery store or the park usually works at the same place. It creates a very specific kind of atmosphere where work and home life sort of blend together. The buildings are all standard government-style blocks, nothing flashy, but they do the job. Our particular spot is where a lot of the administrative bits happen. It’s quiet inside, mostly because the colony is tucked away from the main traffic. You’ll see kids playing outside in the evenings and neighbors chatting over the walls. Inside 1-D, it’s mostly just us sitting at desks with the windows open to catch a breeze. We have a lot of old ledgers and a couple of computers that have seen better days. It’s not the kind of place where people wear suits; it’s more about getting the tasks done in comfortable clothes. We spend a lot of time checking lists and making sure the colony logistics are handled. The tea lady comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a break. It is a predictable life, but there is a certain comfort in knowing everyone around you. It’s just a regular part of the Npcil setup here in the housing area.
