Nikita General Store

Running Nikita General Store in Kethunipole is a full-time job that never really stops. This part of Kota is always moving, and being near the head office means there are people walking by at all hours. My shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of stuff. I’ve got everything from hair oil to notebooks for the students. It can be hard to find things sometimes if I don't stay organized, so I spend a lot of time tidying up the stacks. My daughter helped me name the place. We aren't a big supermarket, just a local store where you can get a single pack of noodles or a bar of soap without a fuss. I deal with the wholesalers every week to make sure we don't run out of the basics like sugar and lentils. Sometimes the prices go up and I have to explain that to my customers, which isn't always fun. The floor is concrete and the fan makes a bit of a clicking noise, but it keeps us cool enough. I usually sit on a small stool behind the counter. It’s a decent life, talking to neighbors and seeing what’s going on in the street. We don’t have a website or anything like that. If people need something, they just walk in and ask. That’s how we’ve always done it here in Kota for years now and it seems to work out okay for us.
