Nideeshwaram Foundation

We are over near the Madarsa in Kota, staying at Abhishek Singh’s place. It’s a simple setup in a busy part of the city. We started the Nideeshwaram Foundation because we wanted to have a local group that actually understands what’s happening on the ground here. We aren't some far-away organization with a lot of money to throw around. It’s just a handful of us using a small room to coordinate things. We spend most of our time out and about, meeting people where they are. Back at the office, things are pretty basic. We have a couple of chairs and a table that wobbles a bit if you lean on it too hard. We handle all the paperwork ourselves, which can be a real chore sometimes. It’s not a polished operation, but we get the job done. We don't have a secretary or anyone to screen calls, so if you ring us, you'll probably talk to one of the founders directly. We talk about local issues and try to find small ways to make a difference. It might be helping a kid with school books or checking on an elderly person nearby. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall or anything. We just try to be decent people and help out when we can. It’s hard work and the pay isn't anything to write home about, but we like being part of the community here in Kota.
