National Moni Watch Company has been at 52 Patan Pole Patanpole for as long as most people around here can remember. Patanpole is a busy area, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. We have these old glass cabinets filled with all sorts of watches. Some are brand new, others have been sitting there for a while. It’s a family thing, really. I learned how to fix movements from my uncle right here at this same bench. The tools are old but they still work fine. We don't like throwing things away if they can be mended. That’s why we get a lot of old-timers coming in with watches they’ve owned for forty years. It takes a steady hand and a bit of patience. Sometimes a repair takes five minutes, other times I’m staring at a movement for three days trying to figure out why it won’t tick. We don't have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit. It gets hot in May, but we just drink more water and keep going. People know they can find us here from ten in the morning until late evening. We don’t do any fancy advertising. If you do a good job, people tell their neighbors. That’s how we’ve stayed in business at Patan Pole all these years. It’s just honest work with small tools and tiny parts. I guess we will be here for many more years to come doing the same thing.
