Marwadi Namkeen & Sweets

Marwadi Namkeen & Sweets is located at Kota Junction on Rangpur Road No 1. Being right near the railway station means we are in one of the busiest spots in the whole city. There is a constant flow of people getting off trains or waiting for their departures. Our shop is filled with the smell of frying namkeen and the sweet scent of sugar syrup. We have glass counters where we keep all the different snacks piled up. It’s a bit of a chaotic place sometimes because travelers are often in a hurry and want their food packed quickly so they don't miss their train. We have been here on Rangpur Road for a long time and have seen the station change over the years. We do everything in the back, frying the snacks in big vats and preparing the sweets fresh. It’s a lot of work and the kitchen gets very hot, but we keep at it. People know us for the basic, traditional taste that you expect from a local Marwadi shop. We don't use any fancy packaging or modern machines; most of it is still done by hand. Whether it's a student heading home or a family starting a long journey, they often stop at number 1 to grab a packet of something to eat. We just keep the counters full and the service moving as fast as we can.
