Madhav Sandstone

You will find Madhav Sandstone on Rungbadi Road in the Subhash Nagar area. Our yard is quite close to the Kabristan, which is a well-known landmark for anyone trying to find us. We work with sandstone mostly, and you can see the big piles of it as soon as you get near our gate. Some of the stone is still rough from the quarry, while other pieces have been cut down to size for building. The work we do here is pretty basic. We receive the stone, sort it, and sell it to local builders or homeowners. It’s a very physical environment. We don't have air-conditioned offices or fancy furniture. Most of our time is spent outdoors in the yard, regardless of whether it’s hot or cold. When the monsoon hits, the yard gets pretty messy and we have to slog through the mud, but we still have to keep things moving. We don't have any big mission statements or corporate goals. We just want to sell the stone we have and make enough to keep the place running. It’s a slow and steady kind of business. People from Subhash Nagar and the rest of the town know us for being here. We don't do much in the way of promotion. We just rely on the fact that people always need stone for something. We are here every day just doing our thing.
