About Lakheri Bricks – Building & Construction Material in Kota
We are located over by the Shakti Nagar Tharmal Circle in Sakatpura. You can see the smoke from the thermal plant from where we sit. Dealing with bricks is a heavy job. They arrive in big piles and we have to stack them up so they don't break. It’s a lot of red dust and rough hands. Most of the time, I am wearing old clothes because they get ruined pretty fast. People come by with their tractors or small trucks to pick up loads for their houses. We spend the whole day outside or under a small tin roof when it rains. The ground gets muddy during the monsoon and that makes moving the bricks a real headache. I’ve been working this spot for a few years now. It’s a straightforward business. You count the bricks, you load them, and you move on to the next one. We don't use any big machines, just our hands and some carts. Sometimes the count gets a bit off and we have to recount a whole pile again. It’s tiring work but it keeps us busy. At the end of the day, my back usually hurts a bit but that’s just part of the deal. We keep a water pot in the corner for anyone who’s thirsty. It’s a dusty place but it’s our place. It is just a normal brick yard like any other you see around.
