Kumar Stores

We are located on Opera Road in Talwandi, which is a busy part of Kota. Most days start around eight in the morning when the sun is just starting to get hot. Kumar Stores isn't a very large place, but we try to keep the shelves filled with things people actually need. You’ll find rows of plastic containers, some soaps, and the usual snacks that the local students like to grab between their classes. Living and working in Kota means you get used to the constant movement of young people everywhere. The shop itself has been here for a good while now. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the floor is just plain grey stone that’s seen a lot of footsteps over the years. I don’t use any fancy computer systems for the billing; usually, I just write it down or remember the prices. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. Sometimes the fans overhead make a bit of a rattling sound, especially in the peak of summer when it’s forty-five degrees outside. People pop in for a quick bottle of water or a packet of biscuits. We don't have any big signs or bright lights to get attention. It’s just a neighborhood shop where you can find the basics without any fuss. The traffic on Opera Road can get a bit loud in the evenings, but inside the store, it’s mostly just the sound of shifting packets.
