Khandelwal Sweets

Khandelwal Sweets is tucked away in the Nayapura Sabji Mandi. Being in the vegetable market means our day starts way before the sun is even up. We have to get everything ready while the trucks are unloading outside in the dark. It is a noisy, messy place sometimes, but it has a lot of energy. We don't have a big fancy storefront. It is just a simple counter with our trays of sweets and snacks laid out for everyone to see. Most of our customers are the vendors from the market or people who just finished their vegetable shopping and want something to take home. The floor is concrete and the walls are just plain, because we don't see the point in spending money on decorations when the food is what matters. We use the same recipes that have been around for a long time in our family. There is no secret to it, just staying consistent every day. Sometimes we get tired from the early hours, but seeing the market wake up is always interesting to watch. We know the other shopkeepers around here, and we all look out for each other. If the tea stall next door is busy, we wait our turn, and they do the same for us. It is a tight-knit spot in Nayapura. We just keep our heads down and work on making sure the batches turn out right every single morning for our customers.
