Khandelwal Provision Store

Khandelwal Provision Store is located right on Kota Junction Station Road. It is a busy spot because of all the people coming and going from the trains. I see a lot of new faces every day, but we also have our regulars who live in the colony behind the station. The shop is filled with bags of grain and large tins of oil. It smells like a mix of spices and laundry soap inside. I have been working here for years and the routine is always the same. I open the shutters early in the morning and start sweeping the front. The dust from the road is a constant battle. We do not have a fancy cooling system, just a couple of ceiling fans that have been rattling for a decade. I keep a close eye on the inventory because things sell fast here. Sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck in the traffic near the junction, which makes my day a bit stressful. I handle the cash myself most of the time. We do not use credit card machines or anything, mostly just cash or the mobile scanning codes now. It is a practical business and we do not spend money on decorations. The shelves are for holding products, not for looking pretty. My hands are usually a bit stained from handling the open sacks of turmeric or flour. It is just honest work on a very busy road where everyone is in a rush.
