Kesharimal & Kashtur Chand Kirana

The shop is located right on Nayapura Khai Road and it has been there for as long as I can remember. We deal with sacks of pulses, rice, and all the little things people need for their kitchens every day. It gets pretty dusty inside because of the open bags, but we try to keep things moving. There is always a balance to strike between keeping enough stock and not letting things sit too long. We know the people who live around here in Nayapura. They come in with their lists written on small scraps of paper, sometimes just asking for a few grams of spices or a liter of oil. The wooden counters have worn down over the years where people lean while they wait for us to weigh their items. It’s a busy spot, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home from work. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just shelves filled with jars and boxes piled up toward the ceiling. Sometimes we run out of change and have to ask the neighbor shop for help. That is just how the street works. There is a lot of noise from the traffic outside on Khai Road, but once you are inside, it feels different. We spend the afternoons repacking items into smaller bags. It is a lot of repetitive work but it keeps the day moving along until closing time.
