Jodhpur Namkeen & Sweets

Out in the Shopping Centre, you’ll see Jodhpur Namkeen & Sweets. We brought the taste of Jodhpur here because that’s where our family is from originally. We try to keep that same spice level, though some people find it a bit too much. The shop is always humming with the sound of the ceiling fans. Rows and rows of bins are filled with different types of bhujia and kachoris. The kachoris go fast in the mornings. If you come after ten, the onion ones might be gone already. It’s a hectic place to work. People are always in a rush in the Shopping Centre. Bagging things up as fast as possible is our main task. Sometimes the change is wrong and we have to fix it, but customers are usually patient. The floor is tile and it gets slippery if someone spills a bit of syrup. We keep a mop nearby. It’s not a fancy setup at all. A few plastic stools are available if you want to sit for a minute, but most people just take their bags and go. Everything is kept tasting the same as it did twenty years ago. It’s just us, some big metal bowls, and a lot of spices. We hope that is enough for the people who visit.
