Jayansh Stone

If you go to Bazar No. 6 in Ramganj Mandi, you’ll find Jayansh Stone right there. We are right in front of Shiv Misthan Bhandae, so it’s easy to find us if you’re looking for the sweet shop first. The bazaar is always loud and full of people, which makes things a bit hectic. Stone work is heavy and dirty, there’s no way around that. We spend our days moving slabs and dealing with all the dust that comes with it. Our clothes are usually covered in grey powder by noon. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady. The shop is mostly just a place to show what we have and talk to people about what they need for their building projects. We have a lot of different types of stone lying around, and sometimes it's hard to move through the aisles. It gets very hot in the summer, and the fans just move the hot air around. We don't have any fancy displays. You just see the stone as it is. Sometimes the deliveries are late because the trucks get stuck in the narrow bazaar streets. We just take it as it comes. It’s a lot of haggling and talking, which is just how business works here. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just trying to sell what we have and keep the place running.
