Jatin Confectionery

It is a typical day here at Jatin Confectionery. Being on the 80 Fit Link Road in Borkheda means there is always a lot of dust and noise from the passing vehicles. The shop is located at No -4 and it is right near where the Lakshmi Yatra Company operates. We have a lot of jars filled with candies and different types of biscuits on the glass shelves. People heading towards the yatra company often stop by to pick up some snacks for their journey. The Kota sun is quite harsh this afternoon, so I have pulled the shutter down just a little bit to keep the glare out. Inside, it smells like sugar and those salted peanuts we get in bulk. I was just counting the chocolate bars to see what we need to order next week. The counter is a bit old and has a few scratches, but it does the job. Most of the kids from the nearby houses come in around four o’clock looking for small treats. It is not a very big shop, just enough room for me to move around and reach the top shelves. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit there in the dark for a bit until it comes back. That is just part of being in this area of Rajasthan. I try to keep the cold drink fridge stocked up because that is what everyone wants when they come in from the hot road.
