Jain Sweet Centre

If you head down Udyog Marg in Indra Gandhi Nagar, you will find our shop right along the way. It’s a busy road with a lot of people moving back and forth, especially during the festival seasons. We have a long glass counter that we try to keep filled with different items we’ve made that day. It is a lot of work to keep everything looking decent, especially when we are short-handed. The kitchen area in the back is where we spend most of our time, dealing with the heat and the constant cleaning. We don't have a big fancy name or a logo that looks like it came from a designer. It’s just the Jain Sweet Centre, written plainly for everyone to see. We see a lot of people who are just passing through the area, as well as the locals who live in the nearby blocks. Sometimes we get the proportions wrong in a recipe and have to start over, which is frustrating but part of the trade. We don't pretend to be the biggest or the most polished place around. We just wake up, open the shutters, and get to work on the day's tasks. The floors get sticky and the windows get smudged, but we do our best to keep up with it all. It is just a regular job for us, and we are happy to be part of the street life here.
