Jain Mawa Bhandar

Jain Mawa Bhandar is situated right in Kasim Gali near Kota Junction on the busy Station Road. This area is always full of people rushing to catch trains or coming out of the station looking for something. We spend our hours around the large vats where the milk is boiled down to make fresh mawa for the local sweet shops. The air inside can get very humid and thick from the steam and the smell of milk is always stuck to our clothes. We handle heavy containers and have to keep a close eye on the heat so nothing burns on the bottom. Kasim Gali is a narrow place and getting deliveries in and out through the crowd is a challenge we face every single day. We don't have a fancy storefront with glass displays because our work is more about the production side of things. It is messy and hot work but it is what we know how to do. Often we are busy packing the mawa into crates to be sent out to different parts of the city. The noise from the station is something we don't even notice anymore after being here for so long. We just get on with the cooking and the cleaning and make sure the supply is ready for whoever comes knocking at the door.
