Jain Ayurvedic & Departmental Stores

Our store is located on Baran Road in the Nehru Nagar area of Borkhera. It is a bit of a mix here at Jain Ayurvedic & Departmental Stores because we have the traditional herbal things alongside the regular daily items people need for their houses. The smell inside is quite unique—it’s a blend of dried roots, spices, and soaps. Shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, and a small wooden ladder helps us reach the stuff at the top. Nehru Nagar is a nice neighborhood, so we see a lot of the same faces every day. People come in for their medicine and then end up staying to talk about the weather or local news. The front of the shop is usually lined with bags of grain or large containers. Baran Road can get quite dusty, so we are always wiping down the glass jars and the counter. A computerized system isn't something we use; mostly we just remember where everything is and write things down in a big book. Sometimes the kids from the nearby houses come in for a small treat. It’s a very local feel here in Borkhera. We open early so people can stop by before they head to work. The shop is small and can get crowded when more than three people are inside at once, but we make it work. It’s just our way of living and serving the folks nearby.
