J P Bardana Store has its spot at number 7 in the Kota New Grain Mandir area. We mostly deal with gunny bags and various types of packaging materials that the grain traders need. In a place like the mandi, everything moves fast, and there is always a demand for sturdy sacks. Our store is piled high with bundles of jute and plastic bags, sometimes reaching right up to the ceiling. It’s a dusty environment because of all the grain being moved around outside, but we don’t mind it much. I’ve spent many years here, watching the tractors come and go through the gates. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know how to handle the heavy bales. The shop is more of a storage space than a retail store, but anyone can walk in if they need a few bags for their harvest. We keep the accounts in a thick ledger book on the wooden desk near the front. There isn't any air conditioning, so we keep the big shutters open to catch whatever breeze comes through the market. Business follows the harvest cycles, so some months are incredibly frantic while others are a bit quieter. We’ve stayed in the same spot at number 7 for a long time, so most of the regulars just point their drivers toward us without thinking twice. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in the heart of Kota.
