Indra Kirana & General Store

Up here on Jhalawar Road in Kota, things move at a steady pace. Our shop, Indra Kirana & General Store, is tucked into the Koli Mohla area near Anantpura. It’s a typical kirana store where you can find lentils, rice, and all those little things that run out in a kitchen. The building is a bit old, and the paint might be peeling in a few spots, but it’s home to us. We spend most of our day weighing out items and chatting with the locals. It’s not a supermarket where you wander around with a trolley; you just tell us what you want and we get it for you. Sometimes the kids from the nearby houses come in for a single piece of candy or a small packet of chips. We try to keep the prices fair so people keep coming back. The traffic on the road can be loud, especially in the afternoons, but inside the shop, it’s mostly just the sound of the fan. We don’t do any fancy marketing or put up big posters. Most of our customers have been coming to us for years. They know we are just regular people working hard to make a living. It’s a simple arrangement that works for everyone.
