My family has been running Indra Gift Shop here in Shastri Nagar Dadabari for a good while now. It’s just a small place packed with all sorts of things people might need for a birthday or a quick visit to a friend’s house. I spend most of my day sitting behind the counter, rearranging the boxes of toys and greeting the neighbors who walk past. It gets a bit crowded in here during the festival season because we try to fit as much as we can on the shelves. Sometimes the floor gets a little dusty from the street outside, but that is just how it is around here. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. People just come in, look around, and usually find something that works for them. Usually, I’m the one you’ll see when you walk through the door. I know most of the kids who come in looking for small toys after school. It is a quiet life for the most part, apart from when the afternoon traffic picks up on the main road. I try to keep things organized, but when a big shipment of mugs or picture frames comes in, the whole place feels like a maze for a day or two. It’s a simple shop, nothing too special, but it keeps me busy and we like being part of the neighborhood here. If you are ever near Dadabari, you’ll see our sign right there.
