Hind Kirana Store

We have been here in Patanpole for quite a while now. The shop is tucked into the lane and usually, it stays busy from early morning when the milk crates arrive. There are stacks of flour bags near the back wall that we have to move around sometimes to find the right brand someone wants. The wooden counter has seen better days, the polish is worn out where people lean their elbows while waiting for their change. We don't have fancy lights or anything like that. Just the basic tubes that flicker a bit when the power fluctuates in the afternoon. Most days go by counting out packets of lentils or weighing sugar into those blue plastic bags. Sometimes the neighbor from the tea stall comes over for a chat when things are slow. It gets a bit dusty because of the road right outside, so there is a lot of wiping down the jars of candy and biscuits that sit on the front shelf. The ceiling fan makes a clicking noise on its highest setting but we are used to it by now. It is just a regular place where people come to get what they need for their kitchen. We try to keep the staples in stock so nobody has to go too far. There isn't much more to it than that. Just a shop in the middle of a busy part of town and we like it that way.
