Gupta Stone

Being in Kota, stone is everywhere you look. We’ve been part of that for a long time at Gupta Stone. Our yard is usually covered in that fine dust that comes with cutting and moving slabs all day. It gets stuck on your clothes and your boots. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know how to handle the materials. The heat in Kota can be something else during the summer months, and working outside with heavy stone isn't for everyone. We spend our time checking the quality of what comes in from the quarries nearby. Some days are slower than others, and we just sit and talk while waiting for the next truck to arrive. We don't use any big slogans or fancy talk here. If someone needs stone for a floor or a wall, they come by and look at what we have on the ground. It’s a very straightforward way to earn a living. We’ve seen the city change a lot over the years, but the stone business stays pretty much the same. You pick it up, you move it, and you sell it. We keep our paperwork in a small room that stays a bit cooler than the yard. It's nothing fancy, just a local spot where work gets done. Most of our neighbors are doing the same kind of thing, so it feels like a community.
