If you're walking down Rangbari Road in Keshavpura Keshavpura, you'll see Gulati Watch Company. It’s a quiet neighborhood shop. We serve the people who live nearby. It’s the kind of place where you can stop in just to say hello even if your watch is working fine. We have a couple of chairs for people to sit and talk while we look at their clocks. I remember when we first opened, it was much quieter around here. Now there are more houses and more people. The work hasn't changed much, though. A watch still needs the same care it did thirty years ago. We handle a lot of battery replacements, but we also do the harder stuff where we have to take the whole thing apart. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be, so I use a bigger magnifying glass now. The shop is filled with the smell of old metal and some cleaning fluid we use. It’s a comfortable smell to me. We don't have any corporate rules or anything like that. We just treat people like neighbors. Sometimes we stay open a bit late if someone is coming after work. It’s just how things are done here in Keshavpura. We keep the watches running and keep the shop tidy, and that’s about it. It’s a good way to spend the day. I wouldn't know what else to do with my time if I wasn't here.
