At 48 Shopping Centre, things are usually moving pretty fast. We handle a lot of sales for different items. The space is packed with boxes from the floor to the ceiling. Sometimes it feels like we are running out of room, but we always find a way to squeeze in a new shipment. The front door stays open most of the day to let in some air. We have a couple of desks where we handle the paperwork. It is mostly ledger books and loose receipts. The phone rings a lot. It is usually someone asking about prices or if a certain item arrived yet. We do our best to keep track of everything. The stairs to the upper storage are narrow and a bit steep. You have to be careful when carrying heavy boxes down. Being at number 48 means we share a wall with some other busy shops. We know the people working next door quite well. We often share a pot of tea in the afternoon when things slow down for a bit. It’s a regular shop atmosphere. No fancy carpets or bright lights. Just practical shelving and lots of inventory. We don't really do much advertising. Most people find us because they were already in the Shopping Centre for something else. We just stay focused on getting the orders out and keeping the stock levels right. It is a simple way of doing things that has worked for years.
