Gopal Singh

My shop is at 8-B-3 in Mahaveer Nagar 3rd, and I’ve been the one running it for a long time now. People around here just call the place Gopal Singh’s, even though I don't really have a big fancy sign above the door. It is a general store where you can find the basic things you need for your house without having to go all the way to the big market. I keep a bit of everything—flour, pulses, soaps, and some stationery for the school kids. The shelves are made of wood and they go all the way up to the ceiling, so I have to use a small ladder sometimes to reach the top. I know exactly where everything is, even if it looks like a bit of a mess to someone else. The neighborhood is mostly families, and I’ve seen the kids grow up and start coming in to buy things for their own homes. I usually sit on a small stool by the entrance and watch the street while I wait for customers. Sometimes it gets a bit lonely during the middle of the day when everyone is at work or school, but it picks up again in the evening. I don't do home delivery or anything complicated. People just stop by on their way home. It’s a simple way to make a living, and I like being my own boss in my own neighborhood.
