Dinesh Kirana Store

Dinesh Kirana Store is tucked away in Masjid Gali, right near Kota Junction. Being so close to the railway station means there is always movement around here. We serve a lot of the families who live in the nearby lanes and also some people who are just passing through the junction area. Our shop is quite small, but we pack it from floor to ceiling with sacks of flour, rice, and all the different spices you need for cooking. The smell of open spice bags is always in the air. We don't have a fancy checkout system, just a manual scale and a cash box that has been with us for years. Masjid Gali is narrow, so it can get tight when we are unloading new supplies from the rickshaws. I usually start the day early to get everything arranged before the first customers show up for their milk and bread. We know most of the people who come in by their first names and we know what they usually like to buy. It’s a quiet kind of life, even with the trains blowing their whistles nearby. We carry the usual household items like soap, tea leaves, and cooking oil. There isn't much space for people to linger, so they usually get their things and move on. We just stay here and keep the shelves filled up as best as we can. It’s been our family work for a long time.
