The shop we run is Number 3 in the Vinayak Complex. It’s right near the Chaman Hotel in Naya Pura. If you’re hungry, that’s a good landmark to use. We’ve been in this complex for quite a while. It’s a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, so we use a rickety old ladder to reach the top rows. It’s a bit of a workout every day. We know most of the people who come in by their first names. It’s that kind of neighborhood. We aren't part of some big chain. It’s just a local operation. We handle the paperwork ourselves, and sometimes the desk gets buried under piles of receipts. We don’t have a fancy website or a bunch of polished ads. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the first delivery. The fan in the corner hums all day long. It’s not the quietest place, but it’s ours. We take pride in just being consistent. If we say we’ll have something by Tuesday, we do our best to make that happen. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the front door during monsoon, so we keep some old rags handy. It’s just a regular shop run by regular people who know their medicines.
